The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are now open and may close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the subsequent requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home by using a combined gross residence income that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined family income won't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and want not submit any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the proper Id Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected inside their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or intend to research in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.
